Visions in the Quiet

Moments I can’t explain but won’t forget

Since early 2024, I’ve practiced 10 minutes of stillness/silence/solitude almost every day (yes, I still miss a day or two sometimes). But over time, this simple exercise became the best part of my day.

When I miss one day, I feel it.
When I miss two? The wheels start coming off the bus.

That ten minutes of stillness quiets my mind, steadies my heart, and makes room for God. In that space, I invite the Holy Spirit in. And here’s the surprising part: when I began seeking the Holy Spirit, I began finding Him.

I started sensing things. Feeling things. Even seeing things in my mind. Hard to explain, maybe even “weird” to some—but it’s my story. It’s what I’ve lived. So I began writing these moments down in my prayer journal.

The Dome

One morning on the porch, sitting in the sun, I sensed I was under a dome—like Israel’s Iron Dome.

Above me was darkness, pressing hard, like missiles pounding against the shield. I could feel the enemy’s attacks hitting, but they couldn’t break through. I was protected.

To this day, I can still picture it clearly. It was the first time I truly saw darkness for what it was—real. But so was my protection.

Trapped in Seaweed

Another day, I saw myself underwater, tangled in seaweed. It wrapped around my arms and legs until I couldn’t move.

I fought, twisted, and writhed—but nothing freed me. Finally, exhausted, I stopped.

In that stillness, I sensed the Spirit begin to unravel the seaweed—first one leg, then the other, then each arm. One by one, He set me free. And when I was finally free, I floated to the surface.

The lesson was clear: I had to calm down and be still before the Spirit could untangle me.

Over the years, my pastor has reminded us: demons are real, just as viruses are real. We can’t see them with our eyes, but they exist.

Think about it—can we see gravity? Bacteria? Sound waves? Heat? Emotions? No. But we see their effects.

So why does the Church often ignore spiritual forces? If Jesus acknowledged them—and He did—why don’t we?

Scripture is full of encounters with angels, the Holy Spirit, and evil spirits. In fact, the unclean spirits often recognized Jesus before anyone else did.

If Jesus took them seriously, why wouldn’t we? Why can’t we admit that unseen forces—both good and evil—are still at work today?

From the Porch…

As we wrap up our chat today, I pray your imagination increases for how the Holy Spirit can work in your life. Ask God to increase your imagination. I did and He did 🥰
